Lands Lie Dreaming : Overhill : Index
Overhill is the most common English name of the Mundane world, as
used by those aware of both the Mundane and Faerie worlds. For
simplicity's sake this is the name also used by the Kithain.
The Mundane world is contemporary Earth, seen through dark glasses, and as such
does not need a great deal of further explanation. The information in
this section of the site therefore deals mostly with the small-scale,
specific parts of Overhill that are most familiar to the characters. A
general statement on Glamour Overhill is
first necessary.
Streatham, London
Lands Lie Dreaming begins in London in the year 2000, in the suburb
of Streatham. During character creation, and before play begins, the
changelings' home neighbourhood will be developed by the players. Some
things that need to be considered are:
- A home or homes for the changelings. This is likely to be a
run-down place, perhaps scheduled for demolition.
- A map of the neighbourhood.
- Shops that the changelings use, and those they avoid, and their
staff. Grocery shop, toy shop?
- The places the changelings frequent - parks, cafés,
amusement parlours, abandoned lots, etc.
- The mood of the neighbourhood, and the people's general reaction
to the changelings.
- Specific individuals who have more than usual contact with the
changelings (whether they know of the changeling's true nature or
not).
- Experiences that the changelings have had here, whether alone,
amongst themselves, or with mundanes.
