Beneath the Golden Moon
Playing the game
This document is a short guide on how to play this PBeM and get the
most out of it.
- Keep secrets
- Intrigue depends on secrets, and intrigue is a big part of this
game. Secrets are kept hidden for a reason; don't just blabber
everything you know to anyone you meet. Even revealing other people's
secrets can get you into a lot of trouble. This goes double for your
own character's secrets - if you just casually mention that you're a
member of the Order of the Blank Shield, chances are you'll be dead by
nightfall. Don't let this happen. "Trust no-one. Keep your lance
handy."
- Be active!
- Nothing is going to happen to your character if he or she just
sits back and does nothing. Go around and talk to people. This might
be hard at first (and I'll be helping in various ways), but an active
attitude is all important. If you notice something wierd, don't just
shrug your shoulders and go, "Oh, I don't really understand that." or
"Hey, that's wierd - where's my beer?" Follow up on it. Things are not
just generally wierd in this game - if something doesn't seem right,
it's because it isn't right. Check it out!
- Ask questions
- I don't just mean to other characters - feel free to ask me
questions too. If you're having trouble with the game, tell me about
it, so I can do something to fix the problem. Or, if you've come up
with a brilliant thing your character can be involved in, tell me
about it. Anything, anything at all.
