Laranian Weddings

Laranian weddings take place at noon.

For some months before the wedding is to take place, both the bridge and groom grow their hair long at the back (women's hair is generally grown long in any event). At the entrance of the church this hair is cut off (entirely in the case of the man, only a single tress in the case of the woman) by a priest (preferably of matching gender to the one whose hair is cut); a part of this hair is then burned in a brazier set up in each back corner of the church.

During the rest of the ceremony the remaider of the hair is braided together, and this cord of hair is then used to bind the right wrist of the groom to the left wrist of the bride.

Dress

The bride is dressed entirely in white for the main ceremony, though after her hair has been cut, red ribbons are braided into her remaining locks.

Vows

There are two sets of vows in a Laranian wedding. The first set are those said by the groom to the bride and vice-versa. The second are those said jointly by the couple to the others present at the ceremony.
