Name and position

Geldard of Megar, Deputy Chabla of the Order of the Checkered Shield

Physical description

Geldard is a stocky man, of middle years, and balding. He carries himself well, however - no doubt a testimony to many years spent as a Melana in the Order. He dresses in fine, though not overly ornate, clothes; in cold weather he invariably dons a lovely ermine coat, of which he is rather proud.

Personal history

Geldard has been Deputy Chabla for many years, rising to the position on the appointment of Syman of Tolfane to the position of Chabla. Prior to this he rose up through the (minimal) ranks of the Melana.

Duties

As the second-in-command of the entire Order Geldard has awesome responsibilities. Together with Chabla Syman of Tolfane he not only runs Menekod but also oversees the other chapter houses. His is not a military command, though he does work with the three Reblena in matters concerning the running of Menekod.

Friends and associates

Geldard works with all of the top members of the Order. Along with the Seneschal Petrys of Skrikau he deals with the representatives, of all stations, of the various groups in the castle.

Personality

Geldard is a quiet, well-spoken man; he seems ever ready and unfazed by the challenges of his position. He handles problems with discretion and speed, without fuss. He quickly decides which matters deserve the Chabla's attention, and which he or another can deal with.

Gossip

Some idly speculate that barring unforseen accident, by the time Chabla Syman leaves his position, Geldard will be too old to properly fill his shoes - who, then, might rise to be Chabla of the Order?
