Beneath the Golden Moon

Gurim

Name and position
Gurim, Assistant to Quartermaster Tamys of Oranil

Physical description
Gurim is only a child, perhaps four or five years old. His features are more like those of an ape than a human being, including sloping forehead, protruding jaw, and enormously elongated arms. He is perpetually dirty, so much so that it is hard to see where his filthy clothing stops and his filthy skin begins.

Gurim is almost never seen apart from Quartermaster Tamys, and has never been known to say a word. Instead, he treats everyone except his master with seeming contempt and disdain, if not actual loathing. He shuffles about the keep after Tamys, coming at his call, and giving everyone else the creeps.

Personal history
No one is really sure where Gurim came from, or when. He's just there, and most people wish he wasn't.

Duties
It appears that Gurim's sole function in life is to carry Tamys' book of records. Perhaps this is what accounts for his long arms, for the book is almost as tall and wide as Gurim himself is; he carries it clasped in front of him, both arms wrapped tightly around it, his small head peeking over the top.

Friends and associates
Gurim associates only with Tamys, and the two seem to be friends. Or at least, Tamys hasn't scared Gurim away, and vice-versa, and Gurim rarely directs his most sullen looks on his master.

Personality
Whether Gurim has a personality per se is debateable; he says nothing, he glares and glowers at everyone but Tamys, and spends his entire life carrying around a book.

Recent history
Any recent history that Gurim has is most likely a repeat of earlier history - glare, follow Tamys, carry the book.

Gossip
Surprisingly, people don't talk about Gurim. Maybe if no one thinks about him, he'll go away. Unfortunately for the other residents at Menekod, this hasn't yet worked.
