Beneath the Golden Moon
Meken Jarena of Kol
- Name and position
- Jarena of Kol, Meken in Astariel
trio in the Skirmishers of the
Unshakeable Ash
- Physical description
- Jarena is six foot tall with long brown hair, which is usually
kept in a long braid when on duty and hung long and flowing when off
duty. Jarena has a plain appearance and is slender of build. She
usually wears a broadsword at her side, which has quite a few nicks on
it and looks like it has had a long history. He duty dress consists of
rigid leather armor, a metal pot helm, a wooden shield with a special
leather strap that has a wooden cup attachment on it (to affix her
shield to her stump). She wears thigh-high, heeled riding boots. Off
duty she wears a plain leather vest with a white long sleeved shirt
underneath, a white skirt, and short leather shoes. Her stump is
covered with a stuffed brown glove which is pulled over it and she
also wears another brown glove on her other hand. She wears her sword
on and off duty.
- Personal history
- Jarena arrived at Menekod three years ago, and was accepted
immediately into Astariel trio
in the Skirmishers of the Unshakeable
Ash.
- Duties
- Jarena's duties are those of any Meken.
- Friends and associates
- Jarena's fellows in Astariel
trio are Baseka Horab of Sarien and Meken Beran Ramal. Like many members of the Skirmishers of the Unshakeable Ash she
socialises mostly within her Ûnir.
- Personality
- Jarena seems to be a dedicated professional. She always acts in a
disciplined manner and seems far too mature for her age. She can often
be found either at the chapel or on the training grounds. She is also
always eager to learn new things that will make her a better
soldier. She has a passion for chess and can beat most of the players
at Menekod. She usually greets people with a chess problem, and
sometimes posts them in the dining area - often to the disgust of the
Meken around her.
- Recent history
-
- Gossip
- It is said that when Jarena came to Menekod for the first time,
before she was a member of the Order, her
left wrist was a stump which continuously dripped blood. On walking
through the gates of the castle, the wound disappeared and healthy
skin grew over the wound. This event, and her story of being
visited by Larani while fighting off bandits, have led her to be
widely regarded as something of a saint in the making.
