Beneath the Golden Moon

Tirman Jayal Dyr

Name and position
Jayal Dyr ("Dancer"), Tirman

Physical description
Jayal is a tiny woman, shorter than anyone else in the garrison, and thin with it.. She rarely seems so, however, given how much intensity she projects - an intensity which makes her fearsome to face under all but the most pleasant conditions.

Personal history
Jayal has been at Menekod for longer than almost anyone - rumour has it that she was born and raised here, just as her daughter was born here last year and is being raised in the keep.

Jayal's nickname comes from her unique fighting style, which - at least in the slow motion of her practice sessions - has a dance-like quality to it. No one else in the Order fights like this, though Jayal is equally capable with the conventional forms used by the Meken.

Duties
Though given the rank of Tirman on the birth of her daughter, Jayal has taken on few if any of the responsibilities of the position. Instead she spends much of her time with her child, and helping out with the troops. Since this "helping out" generally takes the form of criticising even the smallest faults in the least matters, or testing weapon skills, few really appreciate this change in her status.

Friends and associates
Mekednir Omali of Burume is probably Jayal's closest friend; certainly the two must go back a long way, and Omali is the only person other than Jayal who's ever been seen to even touch her daughter.

Personality
Jayal is intense. She always seems to be focused on something, usually military and religious in nature. She is rarely bothered by people because of this, and so is little known by most.

Recent history
Two years ago Jayal became pregnant, a fact which forced her eventually to disband her Ûnir, the Skirmishers Standing Firm on the Waves of War. When she gave birth to her daughter, Laranil, she was promoted to Tirman.

Gossip
The only real gossip that Jayal attracts is the question of who the father of her child is. Some believe it is Reblena Calin of Mereth, others that it is Akrana Orinin Chabelos; Jayal herself quietly claims that the daughter is a gift from the goddess. No one has contradicted her to her face.
