History:
This Ûnir was formed in 1272, and is the longest running Ûnir in the Order. Its founder was Bethaglion, who gave his name to that trio which is now the integral part of the Skirmishers of the Unshakeable Ash. While the members of the Ûnir, including the Mekednir, have changed many times over the years, the name has remained. Moreover, a number of traditions associated with the unit persist even til the present day. One such is that one of the trios is always named after Bethaglion, and that the new Mekednir of the Ûnir is always the man or woman who is Baseka of this trio at the time.

Character:
The Skirmishers of the Unshakeable Ash are the élite Ûnir in the Order of the Checkered Shield. They are the oldest and most prestigious, with a long tradition of excellence. This Ûnir sets the standards for all others, though few match it, and its traditions are commonly regarded as the "proper way" to do things.

Those who serve in the Skirmishers of the Unshakeable Ash, and even more so in Bethaglion trio are those who generally go on to hold the highest positions, both at Menekod and elsewhere.

Every member of the Skirmishers of the Unshakeable Ash knows something of the history of their Ûnir, and for this reason, as well as the immense standing of the unit, there is a great deal of solidarity among those serving within its ranks.
