Logs : 3 December 2001

Having summoned her household through the Dreaming to meet at Waldren House at 4:00pm that Wednesday, Lady Catherine took it upon herself, in the absence of any servants other than the (mad) Shape, to perform the domestic duties of making tea and scones for after the meeting. Robert was the first to arrive, then Richard, then Stig came down from the library where he had been all afternoon. Jellybean was late in coming, though she sent a handwritten 'telegram' (with many STOPs in it) to say that she would be late.

Once the meeting was underway (not a simple matter to achieve - Richard and JayB were intent on eating the food during rather than after the meeting, and Lady Catherine called sovreign just to get everyone in their seats), Lady Catherine made the agenda clear.

First, she wanted everyone to discuss how they felt about Slim and Jacoby and their respective departures, stating that the household would not be a coherent group until they had all accepted what had happened. Throughout this part of the meeting, the 'ghost' of Slim sat silently in the corner, a clear indication of what Lady Catherine meant.

After uncomfortable silences, muttered speeches, unconvincing claims that there was no problem and it was only Jacoby people cared about, there seemed a consensus that everything was pretty much okay with the group; whereupon the ghost slowly disappeared.

The next item to attend to concerned what to do about the Wild Run and the place of small dreams. Jellybean had a terrible time forcing herself to tell the truth and nothing but the truth regarding (???), and Robert discussed again his plan with the clothesline (only now he said it should be a golden rope, since everyone was in on it, and besides, that's what Lady Catherine's picture showed).

This section of the meeting was rushed, as it was almost five o'clock, the time Lady Catherine had agreed to meet again with Mr Bun and Valis regarding the investigation of the mystery at Waldren House. Indeed, Lady Catherine had Jellybean stall them at the door while she discussed what she should do with the others. Mr Bun was unimpressed, particularly when a phone call from the doorstep proved unhelpful, and Valis was terrified when Richard pulled a gun on him when the former looked in through the window. However, at last the two investigators were given leave to enter.

There ensued a conversation remarkably similar to the one held the day before, in which Mr Bun offered his and his associate's services in looking into the mystery, while offering a list of references and a few other details. He was most put out by the attitudes of Lady Catherine's servants, and left in something of a huff. Jellybean, for her part, took a fancy to Valis, and played mercilessly with him, much to Mr Bun's disgust and Valis slight discomfort.
