Logs : 21 December 1998

Two changelings returned after long absences. Jack had forgotten his fairy nature from being forced to make his body accomodate the school furniture. He only remembered that he was a Troll when he wore a mask that one of his fellow students had been parading around in, and saw himself in his changeling form. He then went to Waldren House to seek the advice of the other changelings there.

Jellybean also returned to Waldren House, having finished touring Scotland with Martin. The trip, or something else, had changed her, for instead of the beacon-like clothes she had always worn before, now she was dressed in normal, one might even say sombre, garments. This didn't stop her from taking a small black cat to the vet, however.

Lady Catherine had something of a confrontation with Jared and Wendel, two mortals who have been hanging around Waldren House and eating everything in sight for the last while. Lady Catherine asked, in most stern tones, that the two make recompense for their habits. In the middle of this, a social welfare officer came by, wishing to speak with Jared. Lady Catherine lied, saying that he was not currently in the house, and then really took Jared to task. It turns out that he owes child support money to his ex-girlfriend for their child, and that he is currently in financial difficulties. Lady Catherine was not impressed, and let Jared know that he was obliged to fulfill his responsibilities, and that included finding work. Jared protested that he had money coming in later that month, and that he hoped to make money selling his artworks.

Later Lady Catherine, Stig and Jack paid a visit to the Underbridge Trolls, as part of Lady Catherine's continuing attempts to save Marick from possible bedlam. She learned that Boston was out in London, tracking down an evil, and that Marick was about to complete his meditations before joining him. Satisfied that Marick was true to his word, Lady Catherine left, but not before Jack had expressed a wish to join the Underbridge Trolls - a notion that surprised the two Sidhe. Marick stated that after the evil was destroyed, he would test Jack to see if he was suitable.

It appears that the matter of Nirumpam's freehold is by no means over. His father had been contacted by [er, Lasenby, something or other, blah blah], who wished to buy the house and store, offering a considerable sum of money. Though Nirumpam's father does not wish to sell (the property has been in the family for generations), he will discuss the matter with his wife. Nirumpam himself suspects that this is another ploy by changelings to gain control of the freehold, and voiced such suspicions to those who had earlier advised her on what to do with the freehold. Slim indicated that he would look into the matter.
