Still recovering from the Saining Day celebration two days before, most people were rather more subdued than usual. Nirumpam had the most exciting time, starting with his chimerical dinosaurs disrupting his during a cookery lecture on the making of soufflés. This led to him being told to leave the class and report to the dean the following morning. After trying to get advice on how to keep his chimera in line from Lady Catherine, Slim, and finally Jacoby, he went back to her parents' store. There he was faced with his emotional father and somewhat calmer mother; it all ended badly when it was suggested that Nirumpam no longer live in the house, and Nirumpam walked out, leaving his father to lament on where they had gone wrong with their two children.
In addition to the more personal matters, Nirumpam also learnt from his parents that two "rat inspectors" had come visiting and poked around in the store room. Since this was the site of Nirumpam's recently discovered freehold, and the description of one of the inspectors matched that of the Sidhe knight Sir Chorus, who had heard talk the freehold over dinner at the Sain Day celebration, Nirumpam returned to Waldren House to seek advice. There he enlisted the aid of Slim, who was granted permission by Lady Catherine, to investigate the freehold and determine if anything was tampered with by the inspectors.
Meanwhile Richard and Robert had hooked up again, and gone to visit Martin - who wasn't there. This prompted an innovative piece of magic, in which the first stage was taking a piece of stone (seemingly what remained of Martin's sculptures) and carving it into a mask in the form of an elephant's head. Richard then used his ability to talk with ornate garb to ask the mask three questions. (The bunk for this cantrip was for Richard to take the mask downstairs to the laundry, find a mouse, and be terrified by it.)
Stig dropped in on Waldren House and talked with Lady Catherine and Jacoby, before returning to his own business, leaving Lady Catherine and Slim to talk into the night.
