Oath of Holding
This flame has accompanied us on all our journeys, a beacon to light the way home. Now it flickers, and will soon go out, as the mortal and immortal are sundered.
[Lights taper.]
Though the old dies and departs forever, its legacy remains with us. A dying star burns most brightly at the last, and in its passing makes true the wishes of those with faith enough to look for a new dawn. So close your eyes and make your wish, for soon the worlds are sundered.
[Makes wish, blows out candle.]
In this first darkness is the seed of beauty, of life and of all that is to be. It is a breath held, paused on release, waiting for all to begin.
[Lights candle from taper.]
Hope and home are renewed, the two brought together once more. With this fire I bind the Dreaming to this place, Waldren House, and to my person. For I am Lady Catherine of House Fiona, appointed by the Dreaming to rule over it. By my nobility I claim the right and power to hold the two worlds together, for so long as I stand in the light.
For this flame is that fire which burned at the start of the world, lighting the faces of Men that they might see us in our glory. It casts the light of the moon and stars, to accompany the mortals while they dream, even into the waking world. We shall ever be together in this way.
